Dear Community,

What an intense time we are living at this moment!  It’s a hard time to organize a gathering; we have been meeting diligently for a year and a half, waiting until it felt safe enough to gather again. It seems like now may be that time, yet it is always hard to be certain. It’s also a hard time to have a shared reality across a large group of people!

We recognize that our community members come from different places and hold unique and valuable perspectives. With COVID, we face a complex challenge to balance the health and safety of our event with the freedom of connection and sharing we have enjoyed so fully in the past. We will try our best to ensure safety at our event, and to also meet the needs of as many of our community members as possible. We want to be transparent at the outset about what we will do and not do, so that you can make an informed choice about attending. We urge you to assess your own risk in coming to Falling Leaves Rendezvous and to make a choice about coming this year that is appropriate for your health and well-being: physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional.

The guidelines below have been crafted over the past two months. If the public health situation or guidance changes dramatically before October, our guidelines may change as well.

What Rendezvous Asks of You:

  • Take a COVID test. All attendees age 3 and older are required to provide proof of a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of arrival onsite.

  • Bring a face mask. We will require folks to mask at registration and at the food serving stations at the kitchen. Some instructors may ask for participants to wear masks in their classes, and this will be posted on the class signup board.

  • Be prepared to have your temperature checked using a wrist thermometer at registration when you arrive. Folks with a temperature greater than 100.4 will not be allowed to enter the gathering.

  • Show a spirit of respect for other people's needs, boundaries, and choices. This is a broad request, but the bare minimum here is that you ask before entering someone's personal space, before hugging or touching, and that you use respectful language towards others at the gathering.

  • If you are sick, stay home for this event. We will help you get a refund or transfer your ticket.

Rendezvous’ Safety Practices:

  • We will require masks at registration and meal serving, by both staff and participants.

  • Masks will not be required in general spaces, however we encourage and fully support mask wearing for those that choose to do so.

  • We will not ask for participant’s vaccination status.

  • We will check temperatures at registration for everyone entering the event.

  • Classes will be held outdoors in open-air environments.

  • All staff and instructors will be self-monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19. If they develop symptoms, they will stay home.

  • Extra hand-washing stations and hand-sanitizers will be provided throughout camp.

  • We will use compostable dinnerware in the kitchen, and dishwashing capacity for participants will be very limited.

We understand that the plans and guidelines for this event may not meet the needs of everyone this year, for a variety of reasons. We encourage you to make the choice that is right for you, to know that we care deeply for all of you, and to hear that we have tried our best to make this gathering work for as many as we can. Stay tuned for more emails, letters from your coordinators, and more details about the event in the coming weeks.

With Gratitude,

The Leadership Team
